The Connecticut Huskies continued their underdog run in the Sweet 16 with another upset over the Iowa State Cyclones. They prevailed in a high-scoring matchup that ended with a final score of 81-76.
The Cyclones rallied late in the second half to make it 67-63 with two and a half minutes remaining, but the Huskies pulled away with clutch free throws.
The Huskies were led by DeAndre Daniels, who scored 27 points, according to ESPN. He scored 19 of his points in the second half and also grabbed 10 rebounds. Shabazz Napier added another 19 points for the Huskies, and Ryan Boatright chipped in 16.
They excelled at their shooting by making 52 percent of their shots from the field, including 47.4 percent from the three-point line.
Dustin Hogue led the Cyclones with 34 points, according to WFSB. This was on 15-for-19 shooting, marking a career-high. Big 12 Player of the Year Melvin Ejim was shut down, scoring only seven points on 3-for-13 shooting.
The Huskies will next face the winner of the Michigan State-Virginia game.
