The Oakland Raiders stayed persistent in their free agency by bringing back one of their own players. Defensive back Charles Woodson agreed to stay with the Raiders for another year.
According to ESPN, Woodson considered retirement if the Raiders did not offer him a deal that he liked. Last year's contract was worth $3.3 million with incentives. Woodson has been in the league for 16 years, and the Raiders drafted him in 1998. He also spent seven years with the Green Bay Packers, helping guide them to a Super Bowl championship in the 2010 season.
Woodson still has juice left in the tank, as he started all 16 games for the Raiders in 2013 as reported by NBC Sports. He had 97 tackles, three forced fumbles, one interception and two sacks. A highlight of his season was a fumble recovery that was returned for a touchdown, tying him with Rod Woodson and Darren Sharper for most defensive touchdowns in NFL history.
Head coach Dennis Allen and general manager Reggie McKenzie have both confirmed that they wanted Woodson to return to Oakland.
