Olivia Wilde will co-star in an untitled HBO pilot centered on rock ‘n’ roll and executive produced by Mick Jagger, who definitely knows what it’s like to be a rock star. Jagger is collaborating with The Wolf of Wall Street team of Martin Scorsese and Terence Winter.

HBO has been working on the pilot since 2010 and still hasn’t received the formal green light, notes Deadline. Wilde’s casting may be enough to give HBO the confidence to go forward. It will also star Bobby Cannavale, who appeared in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire (which was also produced by Scorsese and Winter).

If the project is greenlit, it would start production this summer and Scorsese will direct the pilot. George Mastras has been tapped to be the showrunner and will co-write with Winter.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will be set in 1970s New York. The main character is a record executive who is trying to revive his business as punk and disco go head-to-head. Cannavale will play the executive and Wilde will play his wife.

While Wilde is better known today for her film roles, most recently starring in Ron Howard’s Rush and Spike Jonze’s Her, she has made appearances on television in the past. She appeared on The O.C. and Fox’s House.
