Cast members for the upcoming season of Dancing With the Stars were revealed Tuesday morning on ABC – rounding out with a pair of Olympians, an Australian pop sensation, a long-distance swimmer, and a few beloved child actors.
Coming hot off of their gold medal run in Sochi, ice dancers Meryl Davis and Charlie White will go neck and neck on the ballroom stage for the show’s 18th season. According to People Magazine, they will be partnered with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Sharna Burgess respectively. Other big names on the show will include teen singer Cody Simpson, former Full House star Candace Cameron, former Wonder Years darling Danica McKellar, and one of Barbara Walters most fascinating people from 2013, Diana Nyad.
USA Today notes that the show’s executive producer Conrad Green has more tricks up his sleeve than just a start studded cast. Dancing regular Derek Hough claims that contestants will change partners during the show.
“You have to change things every so often to keep them fresh,” Green tells reporters. He hopes that adding younger stars to the show will attract younger viewers. “We have to be mindful of keeping hold of younger audiences. Our does skew a little older.”
The rest of the cast will include NeNe Leakes of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Drew Carey of The Price is Right, Paralympic snowboarder Amy Purdy, former professional hockey player Sean Avery, singer and actor Billy Dee Williams, and Big Time Rush member James Maslow.
Dancing With the Stars begins March 17 on ABC.
