A former girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius testified on Friday about why their relationship ended and that the former Olympian carried a gun “all the time.”
CNN reported that Samantha Taylor testified in a South African courtroom that Pistorius slept with a pistol at his bedside either on the nightstand or on the floor next to his prosthetic legs. She also claimed that one time he became so enraged after a traffic stop that he shot a gun through the car’s sunroof.
The Detroit Free Press noted that Taylor went on to say that their relationship ended because he cheated on her with Reeva Steenkamp.
The double amputee is accused of murdering Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day 2013, however, he has maintained that he mistakenly shot her believing she was an intruder.
Pistorius’ ex also delivered a blow to the defense when she was asked if Pistorius sounded like a woman when he screamed, something his lawyers claim and that Steenkamp’s screams could have been confused with his. Taylor, however, said no, “he sounds like a man.”
