The Philadelphia Eagles made it official and signed quarterback Mark Sanchez to a one-year deal.

According to NFL.com, the former New York Jet agreed to terms with the team on Thursday and the Eagles announced the signing in a news conference on Friday.

ESPN reported that Sanchez's contract is for $2.25 million and includes a $750,000 signing bonus. The deal also includes an additional $1.75 million in bonuses that Sanchez can achieve if he plays up to 90 percent of the Eagles' offensive plays.

The deal comes a week after the team lost veteran quarterback Michael Vick to the Jets.

However, the move has seemed to fall flat in Eagles Country and has not excited the fans. The team already knows that Nick Foles will be the starting quarterback and if he performs anything like he did last year, fans should not see Sanchez on the field at all.

"I've said many times that we will always look to add quality players at the quarterback position," said Eagles coach Chip Kelly. "We consider it a key position in this game, so having the chance to add Mark to that group was a no-brainer for us.

Basically the 27-year-old will assume the backup QB role with Matt Barkley as a buffer in case Foles goes down, which fans are hoping does not happen.
