The Pittsburgh Steelers added receiving depth after losing free agent Jerricho Cotchery to the Carolina Panthers. They signed Lance Moore to a two-year contract after he was released by the New Orleans Saints. The Steelers also lost Emmanuel Sanders to the Denver Broncos.
ESPN reports that Cotchery signed with the Panthers for $5 million. The financial details of Moore's contract are unknown though.
Moore caught 37 passes for 457 yards and two touchdowns for the Saints in 13 games last season. His best season came in 2012 when he caught 65 passes for 1,041 yards and six touchdowns. He was due $3.8 million in salary cap money before the Saints released him.
Kenny Stills is expected to receive an even bigger role in the Saints' offense with Moore gone. Stills caught 51 passes for 641 yards with five touchdowns as a rookie in 2013.
According to NFL, Moore is expected to take on the No. 3 role in the Steelers' offense as 2013 third-round pick Markus Wheaton starts across from leading receiver Antonio Brown.
