AMC is getting back into full Mad Men mode as The Walking Dead’s latest season is about to wrap up. With just a month to go before the final season of Matthew Weiner’s Madison Avenue saga begins, AMC has issued a psychedelic poster for the premiere.
The poster is credited to designer Milton Glaser. AMC said that Weiner, who created Mad Men grew up with Glaser’s work, notes Entertainment Weekly. Wiener had “ long dreamed of collaborating with the artist whose iconic style helped define the look of the late 1960s,” the network said.
For the bottom portion of the poster, Glaser featured the famous image of the back of Don Draper, reclining on a couch with a cigarette in his hand. It’s been seen since the show first started, but this time, Don isn’t looking out at the New York skyline. Instead, he’s looking at a psychedelic image, showing that the audience and Don are finally reaching the end of the decade.
The poster’s release comes a day after a 15-second teaser was released. It showed nothing, other than Draper, played by Jon Hamm, walking out of an airplane and putting his fedora on.
The first half of Mad Men’s final season begins on Sunday, April 13 at 10 p.m.
