Mother Nature has struck again as this is the second time this season that a Nascar Sprint Cup race has been delayed by rain. A two hour rain delay caused the Food City 500 to get off to a slow start Sunday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway.
After Nascar got the track dried the race began, but after only 123 laps the caution flag paused the race due to another episode of rain. According to the Associated Press besides the weather there have been other problems. Joey Logano lost power steering and an explosion of toilet paper like material when parading across the track.
When the race paused Matt Kenseth had the lead followed by Jamie McMurray and Brad Keselowski. Kurt Busch and Dale Earnhardt Jr. finished out the top five.
According to USA Today there is a 90 percent chance of showers for Sunday afternoon and evening and if the race does not get finished it will resume at noon on Monday. In order for it to be a complete race 250 laps must be raced.
