Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was indicted Thursday on an assault charge stemming from an alleged fight he had with his fiancé at an Atlantic City casino.

According to NFL.com, a grand jury indicted Rice on one count of third-degree aggravated assault against Janay Palmer that allegedly occurred while the two were at Revel casino last month.

Surveillance footage first published by TMZ Sports, captured the running back allegedly dragging his fiancé’s limp body out of an elevator.

The football star’s attorney said that his client and Palmer did not want to proceed with the case.

"We deny Ray Rice committed aggravated assault," said Michael Diamondstein. "Neither Ray nor Janay Palmer wish to prosecute the matter. Ray and Janay are together. They're happy, and they're in counseling.”

If Rice is convicted he could potentially face three to five years in prison.

The 27-year-old has played for the Ravens since 2008 and as of 2013, was ranked as the team’s second all-time leading rusher behind Jamal Lewis.
