Robert De Niro was applauded for his humanitarian work in Los Angeles on Thursday. Receiving the Creative Commitment to Film award, De Niro attended the inaugural Unite4: Humanity event that was hosted by Saturday Night Live comedian Andy Samberg.
The Unite4: Humanity gala is collaboration by the charity Unite4: good and Variety magazine honoring stars for their charity work. In addition to honoring De Niro at the event, his longtime collaborator, Martin Scorsese, was awarded the Variety Creative Conscience gong reported ABC.
Also awarded at the event were childhood Disney stars Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato as previously reported . Samberg was awarded the Keep Walking Award for his achievements. Philomena Lee received the Everyday Hero award. Lee inspired the movie, Philomena.
Alicia Keys and Lovato serenated the crowd and performed for the audience of more than 600 people. Keys additionally was honored with a Music Visionary award.
Recipient of the Unity Recognition Award was former President Bill Clinton.
