Robert Rodriguez is making a splash with From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series and his new project, Matador.

Rodriguez is thinking outside the box with his new Troublemaker Studios, based in Texas. He has also launched El Rey, a network determined to give voice to independent filmmakers and new television programming. It is an English language network dedicated to Latino viewers. Rodriguez hopes to keep loyal fans and add new viewers with his most recent endeavor.

According to the Associated Press, Rodriguez said, "I don't really want the network to be niche. With us doing a show like `Dusk Till Dawn,' people say, `Is that the kind of shows you'll be doing?' But our next (original) series will be a little broader."

The new project, Matador is created by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It is about a soccer hero and CIA operative. The show will premiere in July.

In the meantime, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series will premieres on Tuesday at 9PM. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 10 episode series is based on the Rodriguez’s franchise.
