Morgan Spurlock will be expanding his television work with a new series on Showtime called Seven Deadly Sins. The Super Size Me filmmaker will host and produce the show about the titular sins.
The series, which will delve into the “weird and darkly comic world of sin,” according to the network, will be produced by Spurlock and Jeremy Chilnick’s Warrior Poets banner. Each episode will look at one of the deadly sins.
Spurlock said that he took inspiration from Alfred Hitchcock Presents for the idea. “With Showtime as a partner, we're going to make this as depraved as any scripted program as we dive head first into Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy & Pride,” Spurlock said in a statement. “You won't believe it until you see it ... and even then, you may not believe it.”
The documentary filmmaker won acclaim in 2004 for his Oscar nominated film Super Size Me and has continued to expose bizarre sectors of society. However, he branched out to the musical film genre recently with One Direction - The Story of Us. He also hosts CNN’s Inside Man, which was renewed for a second season.
Seven Deadly Sins premieres on June 19 at 11 p.m. on Showtime.
