No. 10 seed Stanford took advantage of a No. 2 Kansas team that was without its center, Joel Embiid. The Jayhawks were upset by the Cardinal 60-57 after coming into the tournament as a favorite to win it all.

The Jayhawks were given an opportunity to get back in the game though after Anthony Brown missed a free throw for the Cardinal, who played in their first NCAA tournament game since 2008 as reported by Mercury News.

Conner Frankamp attempted a three-point shot with five seconds remaining, but it was to no avail as Stanford grabbed the rebound to seal the win.

According to ESPN, Andrew Wiggins greatly struggled in this game, only scoring four points on 1-for-6 shooting. This rubbed off on the rest of the Jayhawks, who were held to 32.8 percent shooting as a team.

The Cardinal were led by Dwight Powell, who scored 15 points and had seven rebounds. Tarik Black led the Jayhawks with 18 points.

The Cardinal will face the No. 11 seed Dayton Flyers on Thursday, Mar. 27.
