Brittany Daniel of BET’s The Game is a cancer survivor who wishes to share her story. The 38-year-old actress kept her battle with stage IV non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma a secret, only telling a small group of family and friends.
In the summer of 2011, Daniel began experiencing intense back pain, flu-like symptoms and night sweats. After going in for a check up, the doctors revealed the heartbreaking news of her cancer, notes USA Today.
“It happened so suddenly,” she told People.
Daniel immediately went in for chemotherapy treatment for six months with the support of her mother and twin sister, Daily Mail reported.
“There is no way I would have gotten through this without my family. My family is everything to me and I feel like they saw me through this,” Daniel said, according to NY Daily News.
Daniel moved into her twin sister Cynthia’s guesthouse with her mom during her recovering period.
Now that she is healthy and cancer free, Daniel wanted to share her story with the world in hopes of helping others.
“I want to let people know it is absolute possible to get through something like this. I want people to know they are not alone,” she said.
After having to leave the hit show The Game for two years because of her battle, Daniel is back on the sitcom.
