The New York Rangers beat the Phoenix Coyotes, 4-3 in overtime during Monday night’s home game at Madison Square Garden.
Along with the win, Henrik Lundqvist celebrated his franchise wins record by receiving a custom Les Paul guitar before the game began.
There were many stars of the game in the midst of the flu effecting a few blueshirts.
Girardi sent the puck towards the goal when McDonagh redirected the rebound into the net. Girardi was responsible for tipping his first goal in 14 games in the third period, which tied the game at 3-3, according to The New York Times
Richards acquired more points Monday night with his first goal since March 10th, after a 10-game goal slump. It’s quite possible that since St. Louis and Richards have become teammates once again, that Richards’ game has improved.
Stepan on the other hand was sick with the flu and although he was dressed in typical blueshirt attire, it was obvious he couldn’t play as well as possible and needed Richards to cover his play time.
Derick Brassard was responsible for tying the game 2-2 in the second period but despite his efforts, Chris Kreider unfortunately deflected a pass by Chipchurra right past Lundqvist, aiding the Coytoes in a goal, as reported by The New York Daily News
The game-winning goal was scored by Ryan McDonagh, 2:56 into overtime as he racked up his third point of the game—making it the Rangers’ fourth win in a row.
The Rangers will face the Philadelphia Flyers at home, 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
