Friday night brought some bad news to the New York Rangers—Chris Kreider is out indefinitely due to a hand injury and the Calgary Flames ended their give-game winning streak, 4-3.
The New York Rangers, who are second in the Metropolitan Division suffered an embarrassing loss against the second-worst team in the western conference. To pour salt in the wound, Chris Kreider will be sitting on the sidelines indefinitely because of his left hand injury.
“We’re in a playoff race. You want to keep winning and gaining points. I think we weren’t good enough around our net. In Ottawa, we gave up a lot of chances similar to that. We’ve got to be desperate in a playoff race,” said right wing, Rick Nash, according to The NY Daily News.
The Flames final and winning goal came with 7.8 seconds left in the second period. It was by far the laziest goal the rangers have given up, as Mike Cammalleri executed a very simple wrist shot.
“After scoring three quick ones, I think we got a little too confident and got a little loose,” Richards said.
Fans are still waiting for St. Louis’ first goal as a ranger, but he was frustratingly robbed of his chance Friday night after a no-goal extravaganza.
“When we did make a mistake, it was glaring and it cost us,” defenseman Marc Staal said.
Boyle and Richards lent a helping hand to the team making two of the three goals. Raphael Diaz scored the third rangers goal—his first ever as a blueshirt.
Regardless of the score, the Rangers still suffered a loss and gave the Flyers room to move up in the conference, reported The Kansas City Star .
The New York Rangers continue on the road and will play the Edmonton Oilers at 8 p.m. on Sunday, March 29.
