The New York Rangers fell 4-2 to the Philadelphia flyers on the road, Saturday. After the flyers experienced a harsh 7-3 home loss against the Sharks, they made sure to redeem themselves and show resilience.
Within the first few minutes of the game, it was apparent it would be a physical one, especially for Rinaldo and Carcillo. A lot of hard playing and big hits occurred and Hartnell received two penalties, none of which helped the Rangers.
Brayden Schenn jumped on a rebound and put the puck into the net for a 1-0 lead. The Flyers began with two quick goals off the beginning, when Couturier made the second goal just 1:06 after the first. The tricky forehand shot past Lundqvist marked his 10th goal of the season.
It was later determined the Lecavalier would get the credit for the first flyers goal that went off of Anton Straalman, according to The Alternative Press>
The young Chris Kreider was able to redirect a pass from Nash and score his 14th goal of the season while giving the blueshirts their first goal of the game.
At 11:42 of the second period on a Rangers power play, Brassard's slap shot went off of Mason’s pads and directly through his legs, making it a 2-2 game.
On the next Flyers power play at 13:32, Wayne Simmonds answered back and made it 3-2, one-upping the rangers once more, as reported in NY Daily News.
The Flyers sealed the deal with their fourth and game-winning goal after Luke Schenn put the puck past Lundqvist. Only one point separates the Flyers from the Rangers, who are second place in the metropolitan division.
This marks the rangers second loss in nine games—they will continue to play the Bruins on Sunday at 7 p.m.
