Stamford, Conn. Native, Ryan Haggerty will join the New York Rangers roster after agreeing to terms between the club and the unrestricted free agent.
The 21-year-old spent three years on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute hockey team and has been monitored by the Rangers for the past two years.
The 200 pound, 6-foot hockey player led R.P.I with 43 points in 35 games and 28 goals—ten of which were power play goals. Over 106 he racked up 84 points including 47 goals, according to The Journal News.
With Haggerty’s 28 goals, he ranked third in the entire NCAA, second in the ECAC and eight in the nation, yet still managed to maintain his place on the dean’s list.
"We have watched Ryan closely the past few years and the two things that stick out the most are: he can score, and he has gotten better every year," said Rangers assistant general manager, Jeff Gorton, according to NHL.com. "We really like Ryan's work ethic and his drive to get better every day."
The newest addition to the team will quickly join the Rangers on the road during the week.
