The New York Rangers fell to the Carolina Hurricanes tonight, 3-1 after their second game against one another in five days.
The first period didn’t result in scoring for either team. The Rangers killed off four different Carolina power plays and have not let an opposing team score a power play goal in five games.
Just 33 seconds into the second period, Jiri Tlusty scored for Carolina, giving them a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Kevin Klein scored his first goal as a blueshirt and tied the game with an outstanding pass from Zuccarello as reported by The NY Daily News
With less than two minutes to go, Jordan Staal scored off of a 2 on 1 breakdown, which left the Rangers trailing 2-1.
Lindholm scored the third and final goal for the ‘canes’ off of a rebound from Skinner’s attempt. Carolina outshot the Rangers 35 to 25 during Jay Harrison’s 300th game, according to Daily Freeman.
The Rangers had 17 blocked shots—Ryan McDonagh led the team with four blocked shots while Martin St. Louis continued to make a statement with the team high, five shots on goal.
It wasn’t enough, though, as the Rangers lost 3-1 to the below-average Hurricanes. They will continue their journey on the road Thursday during their face off with the Minnesota Wild.
