MTV announced the nominee’s for the 2014 MTV Movie Awards and the results were quite interesting. The MTV Movie Awards is no Oscar’s but this year MTV has included critically acclaimed films along with teen fan favorites.
According to Just Jared, The Wolf of Wall Street and American Hustle received the most nominations with eight total for each. Following closely behind is The Hunger Games: Catching fire with seven nominations.
The show will give out the golden popcorn awards on April 13 with Conan O’Brien providing a few laughs as the host. Here is the complete list of the nominees via the LA Times and our winner predictions.
MOVIE OF THE YEAR
"12 Years a Slave"
"American Hustle"
"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
"The Wolf of Wall Street"
12 Years a Slave may have swept the awards season but for the MTV audience, we are going with The Hunger Games.
FEMALE PERFORMANCE
Amy Adams -- "American Hustle"
Jennifer Aniston -- "We're the Millers"
Sandra Bullock -- "Gravity"
Jennifer Lawrence -- "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Lupita Nyong'o -- "12 Years a Slave"
Break out star Lupita Nyong’o has probably been the most talked about actress this award season for her riveting performance in 12 Years a Slave and her fashion sense. She is a fan favorite and it would be almost blasphemy if MTV didn’t give her the golden popcorn.
MALE PERFORMANCE
Bradley Cooper -- "American Hustle"
Leonardo DiCaprio -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Chiwetel Ejiofor -- "12 Years a Slave"
Josh Hutcherson -- "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Matthew McConaughey -- "Dallas Buyers Club"
Leonardo DiCaprio has a total of six individual nominations for this year's MTV Movie Awards. We are betting that he will take home the popcorn in this category. The Oscars snubbed him yet again and fans across the board always want Leo to win.
BREAKTHROUGH PERFORMANCE
Liam James -- "The Way Way Back"
Michael B. Jordan -- "Fruitvale Station"
Will Poulter-- "We're the Millers"
Margot Robbie -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Miles Teller -- "The Spectacular Now"
Michael B. Jordan has been making a lot of noise in Hollywood since his performance in “Fruitvale Station” and we think he will win the golden popcorn in this category.
KISS
Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Adams -- "American Hustle"
Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson -- "Don Jon"
James Franco, Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens -- "Spring Breakers"
Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller -- "The Spectacular Now"
Emma Roberts, Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter -- "We're the Millers"
The raunchy three-way kiss between James Franco, Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens will probably win.
FIGHT
"Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues" -- Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, David Koechner and Steve Carell vs. James Marsden vs. Sacha Baron Cohen vs. Kanye West vs. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler vs. Jim Carrey and Marion Cotillard vs. Will Smith vs. Liam Neeson and John C. Reilly vs. Greg Kinnear
"Identity Thief" -- Jason Bateman vs. Melissa McCarthy
"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" -- Orlando Bloom and Evangeline Lilly vs. Orcs
"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" -- Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Sam Claflin vs. Mutant Monkeys
"This is the End" -- Jonah Hill vs. James Franco and Seth Rogen
The Hunger Games will win the gold popcorn because it’s the most popular among the MTV audience.
COMEDIC PERFORMANCE
Kevin Hart -- "Ride Along"
Jonah Hill -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Johnny Knoxville -- "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa"
Melissa McCarthy -- "The Heat"
Jason Sudeikis -- "We're the Millers"
Kevin Hart has taken over comedy in Hollywood and we would like for the short funny man to win but Jonah Hill may take home the award.
SCARED-AS-... PERFORMANCE
Rose Byrne -- "Insidious: Chapter 2"
Jessica Chastain -- "Mama"
Vera Farmiga -- "The Conjuring"
Ethan Hawke -- "The Purge"
Brad Pitt -- "World War Z"
We are just going to guess here. Vera Farmiga?
ON-SCREEN DUO
Amy Adams and Christian Bale -- "American Hustle"
Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto -- "Dallas Buyers Club"
Vin Diesel and Paul Walker -- "Fast & Furious 6"
Ice Cube and Kevin Hart -- "Ride Along"
Jonah Hill and Leonardo DiCaprio -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
MTV could possibly want to honor the late Paul Walker and give the award to “Fast & Furious 6” but if not, McConaughey and Leto will win the gold popcorn.
SHIRTLESS PERFORMANCE
Jennifer Aniston -- "We're the Millers"
Sam Claflin -- "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Leonardo DiCaprio -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Zac Efron -- "That Awkward Moment"
Chris Hemsworth -- "Thor: The Dark World"
Zac Efron is an MTV favorite and teenage girls fawn over him so he will most likely take home the award for Shirtless Performance.
#WTF MOMENT
The RV Crash -- "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues"
The Beauty Pageant -- "Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa"
Car Sex -- "The Counselor"
The Lude Scene -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Danny's New Pet -- "This is the End"
Jackass always provides the best WTF moments so they have this category in the bag.
VILLAIN
Barkhad Abdi -- "Captain Phillips"
Benedict Cumberbatch -- "Star Trek into Darkness"
Michael Fassbender -- "12 Years a Slave"
Mila Kunis -- "Oz The Great and Powerful"
Donald Sutherland -- "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Barkhad Abdi’s performance in Captain Phillips was amazing but we are guessing most of MTV’s audience hasn’t seen “Capitan Phillips” so Donald Sutherland might take home the award.
ON-SCREEN TRANSFORMATION
Christian Bale -- "American Hustle"
Elizabeth Banks -- "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
Orlando Bloom -- "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"
Jared Leto -- "Dallas Buyers Club"
Matthew McConaughey -- "Dallas Buyers Club"
This category is a tight one between co-stars Jared Leto and Matthew McConaughey. Both lost an obscene amount of weight for their role but we are going with Mr. Leto on this one.
MUSICAL MOMENT
Backstreet Boys, Jay Baruchel, Seth Rogen and Craig Robinson Perform in Heaven -- "This is the End"
Jennifer Lawrence Sings "Live & Let Die" -- "American Hustle"
Leonardo DiCaprio Pops and Locks -- "The Wolf of Wall Street"
Melissa McCarthy Sings "Barracuda" -- "Identity Thief"
Will Poulter Sing "Waterfalls" -- "We're the Millers"
Leo takes home the popcorn for this one because he is Leo.
CAMEO PERFORMANCE
Robert De Niro -- "American Hustle"
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey -- "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues"
Kanye West -- "Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues"
Joan Rivers -- "Iron Man 3"
Rihanna -- "This is the End"
Amy Poehler and Tina Fey will take the golden popcorn in this category because they are fan favorites.
HERO
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent -- "Man of Steel"
Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man -- "Iron Man 3"
Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins -- "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug"
Chris Hemsworth as Thor -- "Thor: The Dark World"
Channing Tatum as John Cale -- "White House Down"
For this category we are not too sure who will take home the golden popcorn. Channing Tatum is an MTV favorite but Henry Cavill grabbed the hearts of many teenage girls and there is Chris Hemsworth. We are going to go on the whim and say Cavill takes this one.
