The 86th annual Oscars started with a bang, as host Ellen DeGeneres kicked off the show with her usual witty banter. She recognized some of the big stars who were there, including Amy Adams, Jonah Hill, and specifically focused on Jennifer Lawrence, who took a fell on the red carpet.
The first award of the night was given to Jared Leto, who won the award for Best Supporting Actor for the film Dallas Buyer's Club. Other winners of the first hour included Catherine Martin, who won Best Costume Designer for The Great Gatsby, Frozen for Best Animated Feature Film, and Tim Webber, Chris Lawrence, David Shirk and Neil Corbould, who won Best Visual Effect for Gravity.
Pharrell performed his hit song, 'Happy' from the movie Despicable Me 2. During the performance, Pharrell wandered into the audience and danced with Lupita Nyong'o, Meryl Streep and Amy Adams.
When it come to fashion, blue seems to be a key color for men as well as women. Multiple men wore navy blue suits with black accents, including Jason Sudekis and Kevin Spacey. There were also many women who wore blue, including Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock and Lupita Nyong'o.
