The blind auditions for this season of The Voice continued on tonight. With spots already filling up on each of the teams, the pressure is on for every note to count.
Megan Ruger took the stage first and performed “Just Like A Pill” by P!nk. With only a few moments left in the song Shelton and Usher turned around for Ruger. Shelton added that Usher really copied him and decided to push his button when he did. Levine did not want to enter into the fight with Ruger. Usher added that Ruger really had some strong enthusiasm and would bring out the best in her. In the end, after much deliberation, she decided to join Team Blake.
Following Ruger was Morgan Wallen. For his blind audition he performed “Collide,” originally by Howie Day. Shakira was the first coach to turn around within the first few notes of his performance. Usher joined in the fight for Wallen and hit his button as well. Before the coaches to pitch Wallen on while they should join their teams, Levine decided to sit on Shelton’s lap and enjoy the action. In the end, Wallen decided to join Team Usher.
The next artist to audition for The Voice was James Cavern. “Let’s Get It On” was the song of choice for Cavern to audition with. Even with a passionate performance Cavern was not able to get any coaches to turn around.
In a few quick auditions, Shakira picked up two additional vocalists and Shelton added another vocalist that auditioned with Cassadee Pope’s single, “Wasting All These Tears On You.”
Emily B. took the stage next and performed “Wicked Game.” Shelton and Usher both turned around for B about midway through the performance. The boys were closely followed by Shakira who also hit her button. The competition for B heated up and in the end she decided to join Team Shakira.
Stevie Jo took the stage next. Jo took on a coach’s song and decided to sing Usher’s “There Goes My Baby.” About midway through the performance Usher turned around for Jo. Usher was the only coach to turn around so by default he ended up on Team Usher.
The last audition of the night went to Audra McLaughlin took the stage next to sing “Angel from Montgomery.” Shakira, Shelton and Usher all turned around for the singer quickly following Levine who turned around first. This made her performance the first four-chair performance of the night. The competition between the coaches heated up but after much discussion McLaughlin decided to join Team Blake.
The blind auditions will continue next week on NBC on Monday and Tuesday.
