Ellen DeGeneres couldn’t be a more perfect person to host the Oscars. She knows all the nominees, and has most likely had them on her show, she is one of the most caring people in Hollywood and she knows how to make people laugh. She is one of those stars you never hear anything bad about and she knows how to work a crowd. It’s impossible for stars to get mad at her when she sarcastically makes fun of them because let’s face it, everybody can’t help but love Ellen and all she does.

As the host of the biggest night in Hollywood, there’s a lot of pressure to do more than just well. Having hosted the Oscars before, in 2007, it seems Ellen knew exactly what to expect and exactly what to say. She had the crowd laughing from the moment she got on stage in her awesome velvet jacket and said, “For those of you watching around the world, it’s been a tough couple of days for us here. It has been raining. We’re fine. Thank you for your prayers,” and then continued to present us with a nearly perfect opening monologue. She commented Jennifer Lawrence falling, twice, racism and of course, Meryl Streep.

As if her opening jokes weren’t great enough, every time the camera was on her throughout the show and interacting with the audience, she had us cracking up. Like when she gave Bradley Cooper some scratch offs as a prize for being runner up. Or when she asked who in the crowd would eat pizza if she ordered some. And most importantly, when she took the greatest selfie ever with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Channing Tatum and Jennifer Lawrence, to try and get the most retweets ever. That is a picture that will go down in Oscar, and selfie, history. Just moments after she tweeted it, Twitter crashed entirely, and broke the record with over 1 million retweets. That’s the kind of power Ellen has.

Ellen did a phenomenal job hosting, once again, just like we all knew she would. Even her outfit changes were great! She knew exactly what to do to keep the entire crowd and all the viewers smiling and laughing the entire time. Tomorrow she will doing a live post-Oscar show. With so many great moments at tonight’s Oscars, we have narrowed it down to just ten. So here are what TheCelebrityCafe.com believes were Ellen’s greatest jokes and moments as a host of the 2014 Oscars…
