After a mid-season break, Grey's Anatomy returned Thursday night for the second half of season 10, and it was an episode to remember. "Take It Back" featured the interns, residents, and attending surgeons of Sloan Grey Memorial dealing with the fallout from their decisions in the mid-season finale. Fans watched on Thursday as the outcomes of relationships were revealed, new crises popped up, and certain problems were resolved. In true Grey's Anatomy fashion, "Take It Back" was ripe with funny, emotional, and romantic moments from everyone's favorite surgeons. If the second half of season ten is anything like the first half and continues with the pace "Take It Back" has set, viewers will be in for one crazy ride.
Check out our top ten moments from "Take It Back."
10. Ben and Bailey getting back to normal
The first part of season ten had Bailey struggling with OCD after husband Ben Warren dropped out of his surgical residency program. It was a rough time for the couple as they struggled with their marriage and with Bailey's problems. This episode thankfully saw Bailey back to surgery after taking medicine to control her OCD, and Ben in the surgical residency program at Sloan Grey Memorial.
9. McDreamy's Presidential interview
Dr. Derek Shepherd is the real genius of the surgeons, tackling trial after trial and tons of difficult brain surgeries. The mid-season finale had Shepherd taking a phone call and then realizing that the president of the United States is on the other end, encouraging him to continue his work on brain mapping. This episode showed Shepherd in a strange interview with two presidential representatives as they asked him weird and personal questions. Though it was uncomfortable for the doctor, it showed a huge milestone in his professional career.
8. Cristina comforting Ross after his fight with Alex
Poor Ross can't catch a break. Still suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after the death of intern Heather Brooks, Ross had majorly screwed up a surgery on Alex's drug addict father in the mid-season finale. Alex, understandably upset, knocks Ross to the floor and beats him up. We see Cristina comforting Ross as she patches him up, reminding him of their great work using the 3-D printer and reassuring him that next time he won't make a bad mistake. It's a touching show of emotion and loyalty from ice princess Yang, and it goes a long way towards cheering Ross up.
7. Cristina and Meredith doing a surgery together
The first half of season 10 showed twisted sisters Cristina and Meredith at an uncomfortable place in their friendship, with Meredith feeling like the inferior surgeon due to prioritizing her family, and Cristina being unsure of where she fits into Meredith's new life. The return of the show brought the two best friends back together as they worked on a heart surgery together. Hopefully the move signals a return to the old friendship we know and love.
6. The Cat Man
One of the best parts of Grey's is the interesting patients that come through the hospital, and this episode was no exception with the introduction of the Cat Man, who had undergone surgery to make himself look like a tiger. The surgeons are understandably amused by the patient, but come to feel for him when he reveals that he regrets his surgeries to become a cat. Stephanie, sweetheart that she is, ends up approaching Jackson Avery to do a pro-bono reversal on the man.
5. Ben Warren and Richard Webber calling themselves the "big dogs"
Ah, good old Dr. Webber. Fans will be happy to see him up on his feet and performing surgeries again after his long recovery in the first half of season 10. This episode shows a funny cafeteria scene in which Webber and Ben invite Ross to eat lunch with them, calling themselves the "big dogs." It's a play on the "old dogs" phrase that Ben is so nervous about being associated with - as the oldest resident in the program, he's having a bit of a hang-up about his age.
4. Callie and Arizona signing the papers for the new house
The past few seasons have not been easy on Callie and Arizona as the two battled infidelity and the loss of Arizona's leg. The mid-season finale showed the lovers at yet another crossroads in their relationship. This episode has them deciding to power through their problems as they sign mortgage agreements on a new house together. For Arizona, it's closure from the tough time the couple went through during her depression after the plane accident in season 8.
3. Jackson and April running out of the barn
The mid-season finale ended on a huge cliffhanger when Jackson Avery stood up at April's wedding and professed his love for her. In the opening shots of this episode we see the barn doors of the wedding open, and Jackson and April run out holding hands. She's made her decision, but shock shows on her face when the two of them start driving away from the wedding scene. It's left up in the air as to what happens next... the best kind of suspense on Grey's .
2. Alex proposing to Jo (kind of)
Alex has been so unlucky in love in the ten seasons of Grey's dealing with too many sick wives and crazy girlfriends, but he seems to have finally met his match in Jo, the pretty and intense young resident with a background just as twisted as Alex's. In "Take It Back" we see Alex introducing Jo as his "fiancee," which is his version of proposing. Though Jo is less than thrilled about the proposal, it shows a desire in Alex to really get serious with someone.
1. Jackson and April are married!
Aside from the opening shot of Jackson and April making their escape from the barn wedding, everyone is left in the dark about what happened between the two of them in the three week time-lapse. The surgeons all grasp for the gossip, and it seems like both April, Jackson, Stephanie, and Matthew are alone - until the closing scene of the episode. The last few minutes show Jackson and April embracing in their apartment as the camera zooms in on a ring on April's left hand. Gasp!
