Thursday’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy , titled “We Gotta Get Out of This Place’ still has the surgeons of Sloan Grey Memorial in a happy place. Meredith continues work on her trial, Owen and Cristina still aren’t sure what they are, and Dr. Webber celebrates his birthday. Almost no tears are shed by the surgeons this week, and any problems they have get mostly resolved by the end of the episodes. Fans should know that this means there’s something dark lurking on the horizon for our favorite surgeons. No sign of the return of Preston Burke in this episode either, which means there are still interesting things left to come in this season. Only eight episodes remain in Season 10, and it’s up in the air as to how the rest of the season will play out. Will it be heartbreak and misery, or laughter and joy for the surgeons? We’ll have to just wait and see.

10. The return of Catherine Avery
I have to admit, I have a soft spot for Catherine Avery. She’s a brilliant surgeon, a dedicated mother, and sassy as all get out. This episode saw Catherine back in town, this time to scold Jackson and April for their hasty wedding nuptials. We learn a little bit more about how the Harper Avery Foundation works when Catherine reveals that all of Jackson’s children will earn their own seat on the board. Catherine gives the newlyweds the tongue-lashing of the century for their lack of planning, and you can’t help but see her point. Plus, Catherine and Dr. Webber make such a cute couple.

[ new page= Keke Palmer]
9. Keke Palmer guest stars
Keke Palmer has a guest role as a pregnant teen hoping to get on Shane and Cristina’s heart valve trial. Sadly, she doesn’t meet the criteria, but Keke brings a lot of emotion and depth to the role. You can’t help but feel sorry for her, and it’s clear that Shane feels the same way when he tries to bend the rules to get her into the trial.

8. Baby brother love
The weird patient of the week is a man that comes in complaining of stomach pain, only to discover that he has a miniature spinal column and little leg bones in his abdomen. He absorbed his twin in the womb, and instead of being creeped out by it, he smiles. “I just found out I have a baby brother,” he says. What? He refuses to let the doctors take it out, until they promise that he can keep the bones in a jar. It’s weird.

[new page= April]
7. April stands up for herself
April doesn’t bow her head and take the harsh criticisms that Catherine Avery dishes out. She stands up for herself and defends her choice to marry Jackson. She admits her wrongdoing, but it’s clear that this April Avery is not willing to let herself get pushed around. She might have started out easily intimidated, but things have changed.

6. Callie & McDreamy work it out
Things have been pretty tense between Callie and Derek ever since he canceled their trial to go work for the President. This episode sees Callie attack Derek with the threat of a lawsuit, which was scary. Thankfully, a happy moment comes during a conference call between Callie, Derek, and the President’s team. At first the team is dead-set on not allowing the intellectual property to be shared (meaning, the sensors that Callie and Derek came up with), but Derek doesn’t back down and they finally relent. It’s good to see Callie and Derek silently cheering and hugging each other – friends have to stick together.

[new page= Jo]
5. Jo signs the paper
A small but happy moment in the episode came when Jo finally signed the relationship contract, letting the whole world know that she and Alex are a couple. The two passionately kiss after she signs, and it’s a good moment for them. Let’s hope it lasts.

[new page= Owen]
4. Owen and Cristina use a dating website
Cristina, determined to get Owen back into the dating scene, creates a stellar profile for him on a dating website. It’s hilarious because it’s obviously not something she would do for herself, and it’s clear that emotions are still running high between the two. As she flips past potential dates for Owen’s inspection, he begins listing his requirements in a partner. Surprise, surprise… they all match up to Cristina. Is there a reconciliation in the works?

3. Dr. Webber to run the residency program?
Early in the episode, Hunt handed Webber a blue folder containing information about retirement. The nerve of him! I shot dagger eyes at Hunt for the remainder of the episode, until it was revealed that he wasn’t pushing Webber out to pasture – he wants him to run the residency program instead. It’s a big moment for Webber, and his appreciation was written all over his face.

2. Jackson apologizes to his mom
Mama Avery is pissed, but more than that… she’s hurt. Her only child got married and she wasn’t there to see it. April gives a heartfelt apology, and closes it out with, “Go apologize to your mom.” And he does. “You could have had grandma’s cake topper,” Catherine says as she breaks down in tears. Jackson hugs her and apologizes, and it’s all forgiven.

[new page= Party]
1. Dr. Webber’s birthday party
Did Webber really think the surgeons would forget his birthday? The entire staff made a big deal about having plans that night, leaving Webber to reassure everyone that he didn’t mind not doing anything for his big day. He’s clearly shocked when Catherine leads him into his own surprise birthday party, and it’s a really touching moment. Just a few episodes ago we saw Dr. Webber fighting for his life, and fighting for the motivation to continue living. Now he’s back in surgery, surrounded by friends, and one step away from becoming the director of the residency program. We all knew you had it in you, Chief.
