The Academy Awards, also known as Oscars, began in 1929. The American awards are highly coveted, and honor achievements in the film industry. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) oversee the awards. The Oscars are the first and oldest entertainment award ceremonies, later copied by the Golden Globes, the Grammy Awards, and the Tony Awards.
The ceremonies are telecast to over 200 countries worldwide. Awards include that for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Actor/Actress, Best Sound Editing, and so on and so forth.
As the biggest awards ceremony in the entertainment industry much thought, care, money, and planning goes into the Oscars. However, despite this, there have been a momentous amount of mishaps in the awards long history. From speeches gone wrong, to fashion disasters, the ceremony has seen the best and the worst.
