Producers involved in basketball season are getting their cameras ready for the Final Four.
This year, show producers are experimenting with a new way of broadcasting the live sporting tournament. The NCAA rights-holders Turner Sports and CBS are working with the idea of adding local announcers to discuss the play-by-play activity.
According to the Associated Press, Turner Sports senior vice president Craig Barry said, "Just because we're being innovative doesn't give us an excuse not to execute at the highest quality.”
“Teamcasts” are a new way to watch the Final Four, and they are an alternative to watching TBS. Three TV trucks parked next to each other will have a producer and director for each telecast. Additional cameras will be added, offering new ways of seeing the competing teams. Replays and graphics will be unique for each team. According to Forbes, celebrity broadcasters might be added to the roster.
Turner Broadcasting System President David Levy noted that this innovative experiment is in response to fans asking about ways to hear their local broadcasters during the Final Four.
