Though ABC's Modern Family attracted the most young viewers, American Idol and Fox still took the Wednesday night in the ratings.

Though Fox won the night, the network's singing competition was still weak overall. Fox and Idol averaged a 2.7 in the 18-49 demographic and 10.51 million viewers, reports HitFix.

CBS came second with a 2.2 in the demo and 10.06 million viewers, but two shows were strong up against Idol. Survivor: Cagayan pulled in a 2.4 rating and Criminal Minds finished right behind Fox's show with a 2.6, but won in total viewers with 11.37. CSI won its timeslot with a meager 1.7 in the demo.

ABC was in third with a 1.9 rating in the 18-49 demo and 6 million viewers most off the back of Modern Family which averaged a 3.3 key demo rating, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Middle was up slightly on the night with a 1.9 rating and Suburgatory was up from last week with a 1.7. Nashville stayed steady with a 1.4 in the demo, but Mixology fell on the night to a 1.6 rating.

With a 1.5 in the demo and 5.6 million viewers, NBC came last among the major networks as all shows slipped in the demo. Law & Order: SVU dropped to a 1.6, while Chicago P.D. fell to a 1.5 in the demo. Revolution then dropped the network even further with a new series low of 1.3 in the demo.

The CW didn't fare well on the night either as Arrow dropped to a 0.7 and The Tomorrow People slipped to a 0.4 in the demo. On the night, the network averaged a 0.6 key rating and 1.76 million viewers.
