When fans first heard about a fourth film in the Transformers franchise, no one was very excited. Director Michael Bay has even admitted that the last two Transformers films where not his best work.
Once the trailer for Transformers: Age of Extinction debuted during the Super Bowl, fans started to get more excited about the new film that looked like a return to the original Transformers formula that made the movie so popular. Along with Optimus Prime and Dinobots standing out in the trailer, it was clear that Mark Wahlberg would be playing the role of the dad in the film, instead of her love interest.
This is in an interesting choice for Wahlberg who has always been known as a heartthrob and an action star. This role is showing a more mature and more realistic side to Wahlberg who is a father in real life.
For movie fans it is fun to see Wahlberg take on more mature roles on screen and we connect with the fact that he is growing up. Also, he looks to be in great shape from what fans can see in the trailer, so clearly being a hot dad is not going out of style anytime soon.
Actors should not be afraid of taking on roles that are closer to their actual age in real life. Seeing 24 year olds playing high school students has become normal but it is refreshing to see Wahlberg embrace his age in this new role.
Fans have a lot to look forward to when Transformers: Age of Extinction hits theaters on June 27 and seeing Wahlberg leading the franchise will be a fresh and new feeling from seeing Shia Labeouf on screen.
Also for hard-core fans, Extinction will feature Dinobots. Which fans have been hoping and writing about in message boards since news of the first film was announced.
