Almost Human premiered on FOX this past November and after several interesting previews and a considerable amount of anticipation, the show has had a short life. This past Tuesday FOX cancelled the show after only one season containing 13 episodes.

The show was under consideration to be renewed for a second season, but FOX declined to renew the futuristic show set in the year 2048 which focuses on a detective and his android partner who solve crimes according to USA Today. The first season ran from November to March and there was hope that it would be renewed for a second season.

The show premiered in November with pretty solid ratings, but the ratings definitely decreased as the season went on. The show aired on Monday nights where the average rating for the final episodes of the season was around 5.6 million viewers reports Entertainment Weekly. The show also scored a weak 1.5 rating among adults in the 18-49 age group.

The decision to cancel Almost Human came after many other shows were either being renewed or cancelled and this remained as one of the few remaining “bubble shows” with its fate not yet determined. The broadcast networks are in the process of putting together their fall lineups and should be releasing their schedules in the next couple weeks.

The main cast of Almost Human was Karl Urban, Michael Ealy, Minka Kelly and Mackenzie Crook. The director of Star Trek and the upcoming new Star Wars film J.J. Abrams was an executive producer of the show.
