Sarah is out of options, on the run, and pursued by deadly adversaries. Desperate to find her daughter Kira, Sarah suspects ruthless pro-clone Rachel is behind her daughter’s disappearance and sparks an all-out war against her.

Sarah’s Plot Line

The episode begins with Sarah running in the rain. Sarah enters into a diner and the cook offers her tea. As she sits down, she calls Rachel and gets the runaround about Mrs. S and Kira. Then two men, who work for Rachel, enter the café and ask Sarah to come with them. The cook/owner pulls a shotgun out and one of the men shoots the cook in the head. This triggers a gunfight killing one of the henchmen. Sarah runs into a bathroom and escapes by way of knocking a hole in the wall.

She finds Felix at a gay bar and she gets in touch with Paul in order to set up a meeting. Paul wants to meet on a bridge but Sarah is smarter than that. She gets her network of skateboarders and punk- rock- wannabes to help elude Rachel’s henchmen. She gets a kid to drop off a phone to Paul and she talks to him from an adjacent skate park. We learn that Kira and Mrs. S are supposed to be flown to Taiwan and Rachel wants Sarah to be there.

Cosima’s Plot Line

Cosima is sick and Delphine is hoping she can bring into Dyad and establish a working relationship with Dr. Leekie. Cosima was also invited to a formal function held by the Dyad Corporation but Sarah decides to infiltrate the function by posing as Cosima.

Allison’s Plot Line

We find out that Allison is part of a play. Felix and Sarah ask for her to get a gun from a source she calls “Ramone”. The source works at an Econo-mart. Allison has gotten drugs from him before. At the same time, she has been tracked down by Art. He finds her at the community theater and this prevents Sarah from getting the gun. At the same time, Sarah gets handcuff but is let go when Art and his partner are off of the case (the two men who were shot at the diner). Allison gets Ramone to deliver the gun to Felix’s place.

The Wrap Up

Here are a few things that happened. Sarah confronts Rachel and finds out that Rachel does not have Kira or Mrs. S. Sarah visits Art at his apartment and we find out that Maggie Chan was a promethean. We also find out that Helena is alive and Dyad Corp is following her. The last scene shows Kira getting her photo taken by an older man.

Review

This episode was a fantastic start to the season. From the first scene, the action was visceral and just beautifully shot almost cinematic. What is an amazing about this show is that all of the plot lines end and open up in different ways leading into something new. The conspiracy builds like a perfect crescendo. As a first episode, it may be better than the season finale last year. The plot lines revolving around Art and Sarah are worth keeping an eye out on. Also, it seems that Paul and Sarah are done. This season, Allison has taken on the role of comic relief and I don’t hate it but I have to see more to have a concrete idea about it. Orphan Black airs on BBC America.
