Contract talks with the San Francisco 49ers and Colin Kaepernick have been put on hold.

NFL.com reported on Thursday that the team has halted negotiations with the quarterback while Miami police investigate a “suspicious incident” from earlier this month.

CBS Sports noted that Kaepernick, Niners wide receiver Quinton Patton and Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette were all named in a report that was filed by an unidentified woman on April 3.

The report states that on April 1, the female got naked in front of Kaepernick, who then left the room. The next thing the woman remembered was waking in a hospital bed and not knowing how she got there. She alleged that alcohol and marijuana were involved.

After the report was made public, Kaepernick took to Twitter to deny what some media outlets had said.

The charges made in the TMZ story and other stories I've seen are completely wrong. They make things up about me that never happened. I take great pride in who I am and what I do, but I guess sometimes you have to deal with someone who makes things up. I want to thank all of the people who have shared their encouraging sentiments. I assure you that your faith is not misplaced.

The 49ers have made headlines this offseason for all the wrong reasons. First, the team had to deny reports that it was trying to trade head coach Jim Harbaugh to the Cleveland Browns, then two defensive starters were arrested and now the newest incident that names Kaepernick and Patton. If it is proven that the QB did nothing wrong and talks resume, he is expected to be paid between $18 and $20 million a year.
