Andrea Petkovic and Jana Cepelova both rallied hard throughout their semifinal matches in the Family Circle Cup to advance to the finals of the tournament in what will be a surprising championship Sunday.

After losing the first set 1-6 to the sixth seeded, Eugenie Bouchard 1-6, 6-3, 7-5, Petkovic locked her spot to play in the finals. She will play against 20-year-old, Cepelova who beat 17-year-old Belinda Bencic in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 7-6(7)) to secure her position for the title reported the Associated Press.

Petkovic struggled early on in the match losing seven games in a row throughout the first and second set before winning four consecutive games to win the second set. Petkovic then came back again from 2-4 in the third set to clinch the match.

Prior to making it to the finals of the tournament, Cepelova upset the two time defending champion of the Family Circle Cup, Serena Williams Tuesday night. Not expecting such a long stay in the tournament, Cepelova has been traveling alone without a coach throughout the matches reported The Post and Courier. This will be her first tour final.
