Singer Pat Boone, 79, is reportedly wanted by authorities for missing a court date in Los Angeles.
Boone was supposed to be in court in relation to a luxury cruise liner case, reports TMZ. The company building the boat was sued by the investors and lost. As part of the suit, the company is supposed to pay the investors $800,000 in attorneys fees, but has failed to do so. Boone and others who bought condos on the boat were subpoenaed by the lawyers.
The judge issued an arrest warrant for the legendary singer since he didn’t make the hearing. WENN notes that Boone is in Hawaii, vacationing with his wife at the moment.
Boone later spoke with TMZ this week, explaining that his real connection with the boat is that he was picked as a spokesperson. He says he will be completely cooperative, but the litigant will “be very disappointed to hear how little I know and it won't help him in any way,” he told TMZ.
“Is this the way Lindsay Lohan and Robert Downey got so famous?” he joked to TMZ.
Boone remains one of the most popular singers of his time, having started recording in the 1950s.
