Movie producer Brett Ratner is producing a movie about Los Angeles Dodgers star, Yasiel Puig.
The Wrap reports that Ratner's production company, RatPac Entertainment, has obtained the rights to “Escape From Cuba: Yasiel Puig's Untold Journey to the Dodgers”, which is an article written by Jesse Katz that was published in Los Angeles Magazine earlier this month.
Puig's story of how he made it to the MLB is very interesting. Puig was able to break free of Cuba after he received aid from a Mexican drug cartel who took him on a speedboat to the Yucatan Peninsula. Puig was then held captive by the drug cartel for almost three weeks due to the cartel waiting to receive money. Since becoming a star for the Dodgers, Puig has signed a seven year deal with the team that is worth $42 million. According to many reports in the media, Puig vowed to give 10% of his salary to those who allowed his flee from Cuba.
Ratner has proven that he is a successful movie producer. Page Six reports how Ratner helped finance the movie Gravity, which grossed $705 million, while earning $40 million as profit. Actress Sandra Bullock who starred in Gravity earned $70 million.
