Drake will be jumping into the role of Sports Awards host at the 2014 ESPY ceremony.
The ESPY Awards recount the best sports moments of the year. This won’t be Drake’s first appearance as a TV host. He previously hosted the 2011 Juno Awards in Canada and appeared as both host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, according to the Associated Press.
The 27-year-old Canadian rapper is affiliated with the sports team, the NBA's Toronto Raptors. He is a global ambassador with the team, according to The Wire. Drake announced on Twitter, that he is “honored to be this year’s Epsy host.”

Drake played a basketball player on Degrassi: The Next Generation before Drake became known on the music scene with his single “Best I Ever Had.” His albums include Thank Me Later, Take Care, and 2013’s Nothing Was the Same.
The awards show will be held on July 16 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. It will be broadcast live on ESPN.
