For Coachella goers who were eager to see Chicago MC Chance the Rapper’s set, they will have to see him hit the stage another time.
The rapper, real name Chancelor Bennett, was forced to cancel his performance at the popular music festival because he was admitted to the hospital hours before his set.
Coachella’s smartphone app alerted goers of the news. “Chance the Rapper unable to perform today. Check out Classixx, Showtek, Scuba or Frank Turner instead,” the alert read notes the LA Times.
According to Rap-Up, Bennett’s management team released a statement via Twitter saying, “On behalf of @chancetherapper and our entire team- We sincerely regret to have to cancel our 2nd weekend at Coachella.”
On Bennett’s Instagram account, a photo surfaced of him in the hospital but was later deleted. The photo showed the 21-year-old laying in a hospital with his Coachella band and a caption that read “Pray for your boy chance,” notes Rap-Up.
His team did not specify the reason for his hospitalization but he is expected to make a full recovery notes the LA Times.
