Chris Brown’s assault trial will begin on Monday in Washington D.C., in connection with the October incident in the nation’s capital while he was still on probation from beating then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009.

Brown has been accused of attacking a man outside of the W Hotel in D.C. His bodyguard, Chris Hollosy, was found guilty of misdemeanor assault during his trial last week, stemming from the same incident.

According to Washington Post, Brown was escorted to the courthouse via prison bus, after being extradited to D.C. from the Los Angeles jail he’s been in since getting kicked out of anger management rehab last month for allegedly making threats.

This trial is significant for the “Fine China” singer, as it will determine if he will spend more time in jail. He faces up to six months in jail for the assault charge and the judge will also determine if he will get additional time for breaking his probation, USA Today reports.

Brown’s bodyguard is expected to testify that he hit the fan outside of the W Hotel, not Brown.
