Chris Martin has broken his silence on his high profile split from wife of 11 years, Gwyneth Paltrow. The Coldplay frontman spoke with Zane Lowe for BBC Radio 1, in an interview that won’t air until Monday.

The usually private Martin, who shares two children with his estranged wife, admitted he’s been going through some “challenges” in his personal life.

He told Lowe, “Everyone in their life goes through challenges. Whether it's love or money or kids or illness,” Us Weekly reports.

He continued about his split from Paltrow, which they have called “conscious uncoupling,” that “There have been a lot of false headlines recently but this would be a real one."

Last month, the couple posted a message to Paltrow’s website GOOP to confirm their split.

"We have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate," they said at the time. "We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been."
