Comedy Central is moving forward with a new digital series This is Not Happening for an eight-episode season which will air on the linear channel. This is the first promotion of a series developed by Comedy Central's in house production team, CC:Studios.

Variety reported that features host Ari Shaffir and will focus on the comedian with his friends in front of a live audience at L.A. strip club Cheetahs.

The series is being produced by Shaffir, Eric Abrams, Sam Saifer and Jeff Tomsic. Tomsic will be directing the series as well. The show is set to air on Comedy Central this fall, Deadline added.

Kent Alterman, president of content development and original programming for Comedy Central, explained why the network is moving forward with this digital series.

“The only reason we are picking up ‘This Is Not Happening’ is to prove we can incubate an idea digitally and then have it migrate to the linear channel and also, it’s really funny storytelling with fantastic talent," said Alterman.
