Here’s our daily wrap for Monday, April 21:
Miss America is asking Central York High School to reverse the punishment taken against senior Patrick Farves who asked her to prom during an assembly. Nina Davuluri took to the Miss American Organization Facebook to ask the school to “reconsider their decision” saying she was “flattered by the gesture.” The teen was given 3 days in school suspension for his behavior.
Chris Brown’s assault trial begins Monday after being postponed until his bodyguard’s trial had finished. Brown is in court over an assault charge for an October incident in DC where he attacked a man outside of a hotel. At the time, the singer was still on probation for his incident in 2009 with then-girlfriend Rihanna. It is expected that Brown’s bodyguard plans to testify that he is the one who hit the man, and not Brown.
An American has won the Boston Marathon for the first time since 1983. Meb Keflezighi ran and won the city’s first marathon since the 2013 bombings. Keflezighi left his home country of Eritrea in the 1980’s and settled in San Diego. He is also the first American man to finish first in the New York City Marathon since 1982. Keflezighi ran that race in 2009.
