The Dallas Mavericks shocked basketball fans everywhere by beating the San Antonio Spurs 109-108 on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Vince Carter, who had not made a buzzer beater in 13 years.
The game remained close throughout, and the Spurs took a five-point lead with 2:12 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks then pulled within a point with 1:37 left.
With 24 seconds remaining, Monta Ellis tied the game for the Mavericks before Manu Ginobili sunk a two-point shot with just 1.7 seconds left as reported by Bleacher Report.
When the game appeared to be all but over, Carter made a 22-foot three-pointer just in time before the buzzer hit.
Ellis led the Mavericks with 29 points, according to ESPN. Dirk Nowitzki added 18 points and seven rebounds. Jose Calderon also contributed with 16 points and nine assists.
Tim Duncan led the Spurs with 22 points and five rebounds. Tony Parker added 19 points and six assists. Kawhi Leonard also chipped in 17 points, five rebounds and five steals.
