Vybz Kartel has been sentenced to life in prison on Thursday in a Jamaican prison for a murder he was found guilty of last month.

Reggae and dancehall artist Vybz Kartel, born Adidja Palmer, has been sentenced to life in prison for his involvement in the murder of Clive 'Lizard' Williams in 2011, according to Complex. He will become eligible for parole after 35 years.

The other three accomplices in the murder, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John, also received life sentences. Campbell and Jones will be up for parole after 25 years and John will be up for parole after 30 years.

Clive "Lizard" Williams, a former associate of the dancehall star, was murdered on August 16, 2011. Kartel reportedly lured him to his home to discuss missing guns, which is where he was then beaten to death. His body was never found.

According to Billboard, the trial lasted 65 days, which is the longest trial in Jamaica’s court history.

Kartel’s lawyers plan to appeal, but an appeal in Jamaica may take up to five years.
