Stephen Colbert, who will be taking over The Late Show when David Letterman retires next year, will make an appearance on the show on Tuesday night.
It was announced earlier this month that the current host of The Colbert Report on Comedy Central will be taking over for Letterman after an 11-year run.
During the taping, Letterman told Colbert he was happy CBS didn’t hire another “boob” like himself. Colbert interrupted to say they instead hired a “boob like me." "
"Every boob is like a snowflake, Dave. We're all unique in our own way,” Colbert continued.
Of his soon-to-be late night gig, Colbert told Letterman "I'm going to do whatever you have done. Obviously, I'm thrilled,” USA Today reports.
In a statement, Letterman said of his replacement, "Stephen has always been a real friend to me. I'm very excited for him, and I'm flattered that CBS chose him. I also happen to know they wanted another guy with glasses."
