Ten people have been confirmed as dead in a horrific tractor-trailer incident in California that occurred on Thursday evening.
The California Highway Patrol has confirmed that ten out of 34 people taken to the hospital after a crash between the tractor-trailer and a bus carrying college hopefuls to Humboldt State University in Arcata for a tour have died. The bus was one of three that were on the way to the college.
According to NBC News, the tractor-trailer driver has been identified as a FedEx truck driver who lost control of the vehicle and slammed into the school bus.
Both drivers were killed first and at least five students have been confirmed dead. Three adult chaperones lives have also been taken. The vehicles burst into flames as they collided.
LA Times reports a senior school district official from Banning High School said of the victims, “It’s almost impossible to confirm who was on that bus because there were three buses.”
The students who died went to Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Koreatown and Manual Arts High School in South L.A.
