The official Twitter page for the event has retweeted his message. The account, which has been teasing the big announcement all day on Wednesday, also posted, “Started from the bottom, now ... @Drake's HOSTING THE 2014 ESPYS! RT if you're excited to see him take the stage.”
Drake, who started out as an actor on the Canadian soap opera Degrassi, has some experience with hosting. He hosted NBC’s sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live earlier this year. He’s also a huge sports fan, and has made it known publicly.
The ESPYs, which honors achievements in sports, has had many celebrities hosts throughout the years, including Justin Timberlake, Jamie Foxx, Jon Hamm and Samuel L. Jackson, according to MTV News.
The 22nd annual ESPYs will take place on July 16.
