Miami Heat head coach, Erik Spoelstra, announced Sunday morning that Dwyane Wade will not start in Sunday’s game against the New York Knicks. This will be the sixth straight game that Wade has not played in.
Wade is out due to a hamstring injury that just refuses to heal. According to ESPN this is the 25th game that Wade has missed this season, but the Heat have managed to stay in first place without him.
Two other Heat players are also sitting out due to injuries. Greg Oden is out from back spasms and Chris Andersen is out for several medical ailments.
As the Heat are fighting for home court advantage in the playoffs, players will not get the opportunity to rest unless injured. According to CBS Sports Chris Bosh said, “…I think before in the past, things were kind of settled in and we knew what was going to happen. At this point last year, we were well ahead of everybody and we were able to just do what we do. Now, it's more of a race."
