Entertainer Flavor Flav pleaded guilty to reduced charges in a domestic violence case in Las Vegas.
The rapper, whose legal name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr., pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges in Clark County District Court. A judge sentenced him to probation and four more months of counseling, according to the Associated Press.
With the charges, Drayton could have gotten up to 12 years in prison. Under the agreement, Drayton will forego a trial but will complete a year of probation and domestic violence classes, according to the Las Vegas Sun. The incident happened in October. It began as an altercation between Drayton and his fiancee at their home. According to the Metro Police, the incident became physical.
Flavor Flav is a rapper who became famous as part of the hip-hop group, Public Enemy. He is also a television personality. He starred on the VH1 reality series, The Surreal Life, Strange Love, and Flavor of Love.
The next court date scheduled is Aug. 18, if Drayton follows through with counseling.
