The Philadelphia Flyers came into Madison Square Garden and finally earned that win in New York City they knew they had to have eventually. By a final score of 4-2, the Flyers take game two of the NHL’s Divisional Semi-Finals and tie the series at a game apiece.

On this Easter, The Garden was rocking early into this one. Benoit Pouliot and Mary St. Louis scored early Ranger goals and the Flyers stared into a two-goal hole, according to href= http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/gametracker/live/NHL_20140420_PHI@NYR >CBS Sports.

It was apparent that the officials were calling this one tight from the get-go as four minor-penalties were whistled in the first period. Although the effort was there by the refs to tone this one down, it did not last long and the “pace” quickly turned over in Philly’s favor.

At the 14:14 mark of the first-period, Flyers’ forward Jakub Voracek beat Rangers’ defenseman Ryan McDonaugh and slid one past Henrik Lundqvist.

This was clearly the turning-point in the game and the Flyers didn’t look back once.

They went on to add on two more in the second-period (Akeson, Schenn), and Wayne Simmonds tacked on an empty-netter late in the third to seal Game 2.

Physical, aggressive, and on their terms is how Philly played after the 2-0 deficit, and New York had no answers.

What’s more than only tying-up the series, the Flyers have finally broken their eight-game losing streak in Madison Square Garden. Their last victory in New York City came on February 20th, 2011, according to href= http://www.csnphilly.com/hockey-philadelphia-flyers/flyers-aiming-end-msg-skid-grand-fashion >CSN Philly.

The all-important Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday night, in Philadelphia, PA.
